On 20 February 2022, near the Mile 68 of Monywa-Kalewa Road of Mingin township (Kale district, Sagaing region), Taungdwin PDF and Kani PDF attacked a military column of 100 troops travelling from Kyar Pin village with remote-controlled explosives. A member of local defense groups reported that 18 military soldiers died in the attack.
