On 21 February 2022, near Pyan Kya village of Tabayin township (coded as Tabayin) (Shwebo district, Sagaing region), local defense groups attacked a military column of 20 troops travelling from Saing Pyin village to Tabayin town with remote-controlled explosives. The group claimed at least 10 military soldiers died and several others were injured.
