On 22 February 2022, a vehicle-Borne IED by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting a prominent religious scholar at the Somali star junction at Calanleey village neighborhood Kismayo town (Kismaayo, Lower Juba). The scholar was killed and six others were injured.
