On 25 February 2022, in the rural area of Mallama municipality (coded to Piedrancha, Narino), an unidentified armed group set off an explosive device near the Trans-Andino pipeline. The blast caused an oil spill which caused damage to the local ecosystem. The area is known for the presence of the ELN and other armed groups. There were no fatalities.
