On 19 March 2022, an explosive device of unidentified origin that was attached to the vehicle of the commander of the 8th Giants Brigade -- Muhammad as Sulayhi -- (VBIED) exploded in Ataq city (Ataq, Shabwah). There were no fatalities or injuries as the commander was not in his vehicle when the explosion occurred.
