On 23 March 2022, near Chaung Wa village (Katha township, Katha district, Sagaing region), the KIA battalion 5 of brigade 8 and the Myohla PDF attacked a military column of about 50 military troops stationed in Min Kyaung Kone village, Shwegu Township, marching towards Chaung Wa village to secure a ship on the Irrawaddy River with eight mines at about 6 am. Two military soldiers were killed and at least five military soldiers were injured.
